Sun protection varnish Solar-K

The product

SOLAR-K is a sun protection varnish for professionals used to cover transparent or translucent surfaces made of glass, polyester, polyacrylate, and polycarbonate. After drying SOLAR-K, is a whitish translucent permanent sun protection, which stops most of the harmful UV rays, while still providing a natural level of visible light.

SOLAR-K is an aqueous-based lacquer, non-flammable and nontoxic (no VOC).
Its use is environmentally friendly and protects the professional in charge of its implementation.
Sun protection films can’t be used on bended domelights, on corrugated glass or on arched polycarbonate / glass roofs
The use of SOLAR-K allows maintaining comfort and productivity in areas exposed to the sun with these types of roofing and glazing

SOLAR-K is easily applied on the glass or plastic surface with a spray gun or with a mohair roller, the spray gun achieving better and more evenly results.

Stops up to 98% of the harmful UV rays 98%

Warranty

In cases where the application conditions have been met on the correct media, the lacquer Solar-K is guaranteed against cracking during :
  • 2 years when the lacquer is used outdoor on flat glass, smooth or armed or on plates made of polycarbonate, polyester or polyacrylate (The warranty does not apply in case of hail)
  • 4 years when the lacquer is used indoor

The manufacturer warranty is limited to the free replacement of the lacquer whose adherence over warranty time has not been satisfactory, with no indemnity of pose or no reimbursement of damage

  • Durability (weather resistant)

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • UV filtration ratio: 98% (between 3000 & 3800 Angströms)
  • Infrared rejection ratio : 55% to 60%
  • Solar factor: 40% (total amount of energy that passes through a glazing surface versus solar energy to which it is submitted)
  • Solar rejection: 60%

Application guidelines

Surface preparation

  • Washing, leaching, cleaning with soapy water at PH neutral and a sponge like “Scotch Brite” (white, not scratched), rinse with pure water

The duration of this operation should take between 2-3 times more than the duration needed to apply the lacquer

Prohibit any use of incompatible chemicals with the lacquer

Lacquer implementation

  • Use preferentially a clean spray gun or a mohair roller, so as to spray a very thin layer of lacquer on all the surface to protect :
  • The spray gun hose must not contain impurities that are often found in devices you might rent.
  • A thin layer is sufficient to reduce heat while allowing light to pass.
  • Consumption: 6-7 m² per liter (with spray gun)
  • Standard packaging: plastic containers of 5 liters
  • The lacquer must be stored above 0°C
  • Never use a lacquer which has frozen

Do not dilute with water

Any dilution is prohibited under penalty of performance degradation and loss of the guarantee of « non cracking»

Do not apply on the rubber seals between the plates of polycarbonate

The lacquer contains a plasticizer, which forms a film, once dry. The joints of the support expanding or retracting during variations in temperature can crack the edges of the film and degrade the rest of the lacquer.

The drying time depends on the temperature of the environment where the lacquer is applied. The lower the temperature is, the longest is the drying time, as hereunder indicated :

  • At 20 ° C, the drying time is less than 3 hours
  • At 5 ° C, the drying time is about 24 hours
  • It is forbidden to paint below 5 ° C and above 30°C
  • Never paint on a support of which the skin temperature exceeds 30°C
  • Never apply lacquer outdoors if there is a risk of rain within 48 hours

Ventilation time in indoor use:

  • Take a maximum of 24 hours to ventilate for an indoor use of the lacquer (as indoor temperature is generally between 10° C and 20 ° C).
  • Ventilation only serves to wick moisture (no fumes of solvent).

About us

KNOHO SARL was created in Carry-le -Rouet (FRANCE), near Marseille, in 2008 by its current CEO, Jean-Marc SUZANNE, an engineer who has worked over 18 years in the areas of petrochemicals.
The company is involved in trading chemical and industrial products mainly for export..

KNOHO produces the SOLAR-K lacquer according to a specific environmental-friendly formulation, belonging to him.

The formulation was developed in 2006 in collaboration with the CRITT CHEMISTRY PLASTICS and the company REACH-FORMULATION.

The formulation used by SOLAR-K benefits a feedback of experience from several years on all types of support (corrugated plates, honeycomb polycarbonate roof, reinforced glass domes, polyester roof) .

KNOHO sells SOLAR-K only through a network of distributors in France and abroad.
